Airport Transfer from Boston Logan Airport to Downtown Boston

Many U.S. and international carriers serve Boston Logan International Airport. Logan is easily accessible by public transportation, water shuttle, taxi and limousine services. Most international flights arrive at terminal E (although some international flights depart from other terminals) and multilingual assistance is available at information desk just outside the customs area in terminal E.

By Taxi - Downtown Boston is located just three miles from Boston Logan Airport so taking a taxi is not as expensive as other major US gateways where o/w airport transfers by cab can cost over $100. Typically, and not during rush hour, the journey from Logan to downtown Boston by cab takes approximately 20mins and can cost approximately $25-$30 per fare. The taxi rank can be found outside of Terminal E (international arrivals) at the far left side of the terminal. Minivans are often available. If arriving between 5PM - 7PM, times and fares may fluctuate due to traffic.

By the 'T' - The 'T' is Boston's train/subway system and is run by the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Tel: (617) 722-3200 www.mbta.com). The stations can be identified by a black "T" on a white circular sign. Tokens can be bought at booths at each "T" station. Cost: $1.00. The system is easy to navigate and links major downtown and outlaying areas plus providing service from Boston's Logan Airport to the city center.

If you are traveling lightly, taking the 'T' from the airport to downtown Boston is relatively straightforward. Exit Terminal E (international arrivals hall) and immediately look for the free shuttle bus marked 'MASSPORT' for the T/Subway. It will take just a few minutes to reach the subway station and you then pay at the ticket office. The fare is $2.00 per person, you then board the train/subway directly into the center of the city.

(The 'T' Pass)
The "Boston Passport" entitles you to 1 or 7 days of unlimited "T" travel on the four color-coded subway lines and all local bus service. You also receive discounts at area attractions and restaurants. You can purchase the "Boston Passport" at Logan Airport (terminal E), many MBTA subway stations and hotels in Greater Boston and the Visitors Information Booth on Boston Common. Cost for adults: 1-day, $9.00 or 7-day, $35.00.

By Water Shuttle or Water Taxi -

Traveling to and from Logan Airport by water shuttle or water taxi is convenient and enjoyable. You can enjoy great views of Boston Harbor and the city from enclosed heated and air-conditioned waiting areas. The MASSPORT Bus (Route 66) provides free shuttle service between the Logan dock and all Airport terminals (journey time from the terminals to the dock is approximately 15-20mins with a travel time of just 7 minutes from the dock to Boston's Long Wharf).

There are a couple of options for water travel including the MBTA Harbor Express which is a daily, year-round scheduled service between Quincy and Hull on the South Shore, Logan Airport, and Long Wharf in downtown Boston - www.mbta.com or telephone 617-222-3200

Another option is Rowes Wharf Water Transport. Travel time is 7 minutes. The water shuttle operates every 20 minutes from 6:00 am until 8:00pm Monday - Friday, and operates half hourly on weekends. The cost is $10 each way www.roweswharfwatertransport.com or call 617 406 8584

City Water Taxi also operates a fleet of ten boats that provide year round board-and-go water taxi service, linking the Logan dock with fifteen landings in Boston Harbor. The standard adult fare is $10.00 per passenger one-way to/from Logan and $17.00 per passenger round trip. www.citywatertaxi.com.

By Bus -
The Silver Line bus service is available to and from Logan via South Station (from here you can catch onward bus and train service to other parts of New England and New York). Adult fare is $1.25, and the trip takes approximately twenty minutes.

By Hotel Shuttle -
There are various hotel shuttle buses serving many of the downtown hotels. Please check directly with your hotel to see if they offer such a service.
